Festivities
So this past weekend, well not THIS one that just ended, but the one before
We (Anna, Shiva and I) went to Bay to Breakers. If you don't know what that is then go look it up cause I don't feel like typing the explanation out.
We woke up at my house, made grapefruit mimosas (orange juice just makes us think of/taste vodka) and were out the door by 9 am, and were full on partying by about 9:15 am.. with the rest of the city. Quite amazing. (I was dressed up as a sailor, Shiva and Anna dressed up as nothing... I hate them.)
Exciting events pictures & not pictured: A run-in with 5 "spring break 90's" girls who really did look like they were straight out of those TRL spring break videos, circa 1997, numerous naked people, tubla(sp?) playing/dancing, and learning how to "shotgun" a beer (and by learning i mean someone punching a whole in it without explanation and then saying "DRINK FAST!"). Oh, and we ran into a fabulously dressed dog as well (as pictured).
Somewhere along the line Anna and I lost Shiva, we were then back at my house passed out by around 2:30 pm.. and then off to a lovely bike ride to the mission at night.
Best day ever.

Exciting encounters with Bloc Party - And non-encounters with Cold War Kids.
So this one time,
Shiva and I boarded the BART to Oakland on our way to see Bloc Party at Fox Theater.
Upon arrival, we finished our vodka on the corner - the classy ladies we are - and then proceeded into the theater.
Shiva always mixes up time, thus we were there early, which ended up being fantastic because we were right at the front.
This was around the time I was on crutches, or on one anyways, so I definitely got bashed around a bunch (worth it). The concert was AH-MAZING just as itself....
BUT THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The singer, I dunno his name, was reaching out towards the crowd.. at which point I stuck my crutch up in the air.. and he reaches forward AND TAKES IT! Awesome, a little painful since I was now crutch-less, but still awesome. For the rest of the song he proceeded to wave it around and at the end he goes, "Who's crutch is this?!" and once I say it's mine (That's right, he looked directly at me AND sort of talked to me) he then turned towards the crowd and stated, "Everyone, this is the first time... Bloc party has.. Cured somebody!" And the crowd went all crazy. Then he gave me my crutch back (and no I didn't get an autograph :( )
On the way out of the theater a large group of people applauded me as I left. I felt almost as cool as the band... almost.

And then this other time, Shiva and I went to the Fillmore and saw Cold War Kids. They were incredible. I have no exciting stories about this.

Also - Went to Fairfield this weekend with Greg, the only picture I took was of these incredibly poofy-looking flowers.

Being artsy in Chicago with Mom.
So this past weekend I went to Chicago to visit the parents.
I went with my mom to her weekly nude-figure sculpture class on Sunday morning. I haven't done much fine-artsy stuff in ages so it was great.

Oh, how I love drawing/sculpting naked people.
(P.S. a couple more pictures - disposable style - from Chicago, to come.)

Docu-fashion
I went to see Valentino: The Last Emperor today with our good friend Ahmed Khedr. It was fantastic. It gave fascinating insight into the depths of the old school fashion industry. It is really amazing to go through the life of his 45 year fashion career. Fashion today is so different, exploited, and perhaps even mechanic; Valentino stayed true to his values of his love for gowns, beauty and pug puppies(!!). The movie was also a bit of a romance story between Valentino and Giammetti, his 25 year friend and 12 year partner .
So in New York it is playing at the Film Forum and in San Francisco it is playing at the Embarcadero Center Cinema. I would strongly sugguest going extra early because the shows are consantly sold out, and you really want to get good seats. Ahmed pushed me to go an hour early and it was well worth it, people were fighting for seats, it was funny.

So I was..
... locking my bike outside Walgreens today.
And this guy waiting near the bus stop goes, "You're pretty, you look like a dancer"
I half said thanks/half mumbled and sort of ignored him. A few seconds later he goes, "Wait, no, You look like a REAL dancer. Not a stripper or anything,
.... Shit."
and looked very dissapointed in himself and sort of walked off.
Ahahah, I was highly amused. Thought I'd share.
ALSO!!!! Someone checked out my new bike... Like slowed down their walk and eye-raped it a little, I was proud :)
(Pictures of my amazing new bike = coming soon.)

Look what I found! (I was lookin through pictures of old art stuff) I drew this for Sara back in early high school. You better still have this shit.

Ratatat-tat.
At first I was just going to assume there would be some lame ass video to accompany the song when I searched for it on youtube, (You know how it is when there's no official video)
but how (oddly) fitting and fantastic is that picture.
mmm<3ratatat.
Oh and speaking of rodents with whiskers...
Found this on my phone. When we went to... Morro(sp?) Bay near A-town. You can't quite see it properly in this picture but that bottom squirrel is so fat it's mindblowing. Also, I just realized those squirrels are kissing.. so... my apologies for the soft squirrel porn.

Really, Sara? Twilight?
Favorite Books
This does not apply to the both of us.
Also, I commend your efforts in finding that Santogold remix, and I'm really not meaning to crush your spirits completely, but I'm probably about to.
That is a terrible, terrible remix, and I have it. I know, I know... why do I have it when I don't even like it? I guess so when you find remixes I can say I had them first.

Santogold...perhaps.

So, its my life long dream to have Jessica appreciate my music, maybe even think I am cool due to my musical interests. And perhaps today is the day that I will impress her!
I found this remix of Santogold's "Shove it." Santogold came to lolla last year, and we did not go see them because friends did not have faith in my music choice. boohoo....

The video is lame shit, I could not figure out how to download the song for free.
Click here to listen and watch (I would suggest not to watch its just a bunch of pictures)
Here is a better remix of "L.E.S Artists" by Justice. It is a mash up with D.A.N.C.E. (L.E.S. stands for lower east side, area in new york, I remember questioning its meaning while in SF.) You learn and hear new things everyday!
xoxo

p.s. Jessica how do I put a video on the blog?
